FAQS

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING THE LAW SOCIETY?

  • Insight and exposure into a variety of careers, including network opportunities and upskilling workshops.

  • Infamous socials and spectacular bi-annual balls.

  • Opportunity to join sports teams (both competitive and recreational teams).

  • Exclusive career mentoring schemes.

  • Discounts for local bars, clubs, and restaurants.

  • Fantastic value for money!

DO I HAVE TO BE A LAW STUDENT TO JOIN?

Absolutely not - we welcome any undergraduate, postgraduate, or exchange student at The University of Sheffield.

DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE?

The vast majority of our opportunities are only available to our members. There are occasionally opportunities for non-members to partake in Edward Bramley activities; however, these normally involve an additional fee.

HOW DO I JOIN THE ED BRAM COMMITTEE?

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) or Election Week is held every April. If you are interested in applying for a position on our committee, you will need to nominate yourself and run a campaign during our Election Week. We also run an Emergency General Meeting (EGM) in October to elect our First Year Rep and Non-Law Rep.

IS JOINING THE LAW SOCIETY A BIG COMMITMENT?

Not at all. There is no expectation for you to join in all (or in fact, any) of our events. We exist as a support network for our members so it is entirely up to you how much you would like to get involved with the society.
